Three supporters of Sporting, ages 22 to 26, were arrested. They’re accused of trying to kill five people. They also face charges for hurting others, starting a fire, stealing, and using illegal weapons.
These supporters were caught after a hockey game between Sporting and FC Porto. Some fans attacked Porto supporters near the stadium. The police found evidence on the suspects’ clothes – proof they were near a fire and flammable liquids.
Two people were hurt in the attack and taken to the hospital. The police are still looking for others involved. The violence started after the game, with a group of 10 to 20 people using firecrackers and targeting cars.
The police say the suspects were part of a larger group. They were driven by hatred between fans of the two teams. The case is still being investigated.
