Sporting coach Rui Borges faces a positive selection dilemma after forward Ioannidis, a second-half substitute, scored and was named Man of the Match by fans in the club’s 2-0 league victory.
Borges has consistently praised the Greek international, admitting he has a “good headache” when choosing a striker. This is due to Ioannidis’s strong form alongside that of fellow forward Luis Suárez.
Ioannidis entered the match from the bench during the second half. He quickly made an impact by scoring Sporting’s first goal. His header came after a corner kick delivered by teammate Pote.
Fans subsequently voted Ioannidis as the standout player for his crucial contribution to the win. Sporting defeated Alverca 2-0 in the league fixture.
