For Carolina Santiago, playing for Sporting was always more than just a game. It was a long-held wish, a vision of herself in green and white. Now, that dream feels even more real and secure. This Thursday, Sporting announced that the talented forward has signed a new contract, securing her place with the club until June 2029.
At just 19 years old, Santiago has already made a name for herself. Last season, she sharpened her skills while on loan at Valadares Gaia. There, she truly showed what she could do on the field. She played in 29 games, scoring 12 goals and setting up four others for her teammates.
Her strong performances have continued right into the current season. She has quickly become a standout player for Sporting’s women’s team. So far this season, she has found the back of the net 5 times in just 4 matches, proving her scoring touch is still very much alive.
Speaking to the club’s media, Santiago shared her excitement. “I am very happy to continue here,” she said, her joy clear. “It has always been a dream for me to play for Sporting. That dream is still very real and important.” She also spoke about what she plans to do next. “I need to stay consistent,” she explained. “I will keep working hard and help the team as much as I possibly can.”
Santiago also made a promise to the fans. She pledged to play with great passion and determination. “Expect a lot of grit and a strong will to win games and score goals,” she added. “We have many important goals this season. We really want to bring our fans much joy and success.”
