Sporting secured a critical Champions League victory against Norwegian champions Kolstad on Wednesday, overturning a first-half deficit with a dominant second-half performance.
Sporting goalkeeper André Kristensen, a Norwegian national, expressed satisfaction with the win, particularly against his home country’s champion. He noted that Spektrum is a challenging venue for visiting teams. Kristensen stated his team was pleased to overcome the difficulty and flip the score in their favor.
“We are very happy with this victory,” Kristensen said. “Spektrum is a very difficult place to play, and we are very pleased to have taken on the challenge the way we like, managing to turn the score in our favor. The second half was very good for us.”
Kolstad coach Stian Nilsen offered a sharp contrast between his team’s two halves of play. He described them as “two completely different games.”
Nilsen lamented Kolstad’s performance after the break. He explained that his team played well in the first half and capitalized on their attacks.
“In the first half, we played well and made the most of all our attacks,” Nilsen explained. “But in the second half, we didn’t recognize ourselves. We lost many duels and missed many shots.”
The win marks another triumph for Sporting in the Champions League group stage. It came against Kolstad, the reigning champions of Norway.
