Sporting Coach Bosch on Elite Cup Victory, Porto Semifinal Preview

Sporting’s head coach, Edo Bosch, beamed with satisfaction after his team’s 4-2 victory over Sanjoanense. The win pushed them into the Elite Cup semi-finals, and Bosch liked what he saw from his squad. “We got off to a good start,” Bosch told reporters. “Then we made a couple of mistakes, and Sanjoanense capitalized. Getting to halftime tied at 2-2 was really important for us.”

The second half told a different story. Sporting dominated from the first whistle to the last. “The entire second half was ours,” Bosch stated. “We played well. We talked things over at halftime. We knew where we could hurt them. We focused on those areas, closing down spaces then opening them up quickly to attack. I think that was the big secret to our win.”

Even with the victory, the Sporting boss made sure to credit their opponents. “We knew it would be a very tough game,” he explained, “just like the three matches before this one. Sanjoanense is a team that really strengthened their squad this year, and you could see it today.”

On the other side, Sanjoanense’s coach, Reinaldo Ventura, did not speak to the press after the match.

Sporting now looks ahead to a heavyweight clash in the semi-finals. They will face FC Porto in what promises to be another thrilling encounter. Bosch understands the challenges that lie ahead for his team.

“They are great teams, full of incredible individual players,” Bosch concluded. “Small details will decide that match. We need to rest up well. Then, tomorrow, we’ll give everything we have to try and reach the final.”
