A fire completely consumed a deposit of wool and fabrics located in the Spanish Villa neighborhood, specifically at the intersection of Julio Roletty and Governor Viana, on Tuesday morning. The flames engulfed a shed made of block walls and plate roofing, which served as a storage facility for the wool and fabrics.
According to the Fire Department, the blaze started at 6 in the morning, and it was nearby residents who alerted the authorities by calling the 911 emergency number. The rapid spread of the fire can be attributed to the large quantity of highly flammable materials stored in the shed.
Firefighters from the central station and Maroñas, along with a tank truck from the Belvederes detachment, worked together to extinguish the fire and subsequently cool down the structure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The official statement from the Fire Department confirms that the losses were total, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
The National Fire Department has released photos of the incident, providing a glimpse into the extent of the damage. The investigation will likely shed more light on what led to this devastating fire, which has resulted in significant material losses.
