Spanish League will file a complaint against Mbappé’s contract

Liga española presentará denuncia contra contrato Mbappé

The Spanish league will file a complaint against Paris Saint-Germain for the renewal of Kylian Mbappé’s contract, an agreement that he described as “scandalous” and that threatens the economic stability of European football.

The league made the announcement after news of Mbappe’s decision to stay with PSG instead of signing with Real Madrid.

The league said in a statement that it will file the claim with UEFA, the European Union and French administrative and tax authorities to “defend the economic ecosystem of European football and its sustainability.”

The league said the deal puts “hundreds of thousands of jobs and the integrity of the sport at risk in the medium term, not only of European competitions, but also of domestic leagues.”

He said that “it is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season lost more than 220 million euros after having accumulated losses of more than 700 million euros in recent seasons (even declaring income from sponsorships of a very dubious amount) with a sports squad costing around 650 million for this 21/22 season, they can face an agreement of these characteristics while those clubs that could accept the player’s arrival without seeing their wage bill compromised, are left without being able to sign him”.

Mbappé signed a new three-year contract and said he was happy to continue his “adventure” in Paris.

Spanish league president Javier Tebas has frequently attacked state-owned clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City for what he calls their disregard for fair play rules.

Upon hearing the news that Mbappé would stay at PSG, he tweeted that it was “an INSULT to football.”
