Spanish handball mourns the death of Fran Teixeira

The Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM), the main clubs in Galicia and numerous players and coaches have shown their condolences on Tuesday for the coach’s death Fran Teixeira, who, at 63 years of age, has died after not overcoming the colon cancer he had been fighting since 2017.

An illness that did not prevent Teixeira from continuing on the bench at BM Chapela, the club he trained for the last 14 years in Primera Nacional, until the end of last season.

Last July, however, the veteran coach announced his retirement from professional handball due to his health problems.

Throughout his successful coaching career, Teixeira led the Asobal league to Academia Octavio, SD Teucro and Chapela, before embarking on an adventure in Portuguese handball, where he directed the Gaia and to Sporting Lisbon.
