Spanish Football Federation Upholds Closure of Four Matches Amidst Fan Violence and Player Recklessness

RFEF Rejects Nàstic de Tarragona’s Appeal, Closure of Four Matches at Stadium Maintained

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has upheld its decision to close four matches at Nàstic de Tarragona’s stadium, rejecting the club’s appeal on Monday. The appeal committee also maintained the disciplinary sanctions imposed on two players.

Disciplinary Sanctions Unchanged

The RFEF competition committee did not reduce the four-match ban imposed on Nàstic player David Concha or the three-month, five-match suspension imposed on Nacho González, who now plays for Intercity.

Incidents in Promotion Final Led to Sanctions

The sanctions were issued following incidents that occurred in the second leg of the Second Division promotion final, which was played at the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada in Tarragona. Málaga achieved promotion after drawing 2-2 in extra time and making good on their 2-1 lead from the first leg.

Incidents Included Ball Throwing and Insults

The match was interrupted for several minutes by balls being thrown from the stands. The referee, Eder Mallo Fernández, reported serious insults and death threats by players and directors of the Catalan club. Nàstic was also fined over 11,000 euros for "very serious infringements" and "failure to comply with the duty to ensure the correct development of sporting events."

Club Can Appeal Decision

Nàstic, which plays in Group 1 of the Primera RFEF, can appeal the decision of the appeal committee before the Administrative Sports Tribunal (TAD) within a period of fifteen working days.
