With the aim of attracting new Gen Z audiences, La Liga, the top Spanish football league, has announced that it will enter the Decentraland Metaverse.
The Spanish first division football organization has entered into a strategic partnership with Stadioplus and Vegas City Limited, two metaverse-related companies.
Unique Ethereum metaverse experience for fans
La Liga will build its own project on Decentraland, getting involved for the first time in the op Ethereum (ETH) based metaverse.
They will digitize some of their activities to offer new experiences in Decentraland.
Decentraland is one of the largest metaverse projects in the crypto industry. Decentraland (MANA), which was founded a few years ago, is in the top 100 largest cryptocurrencies.
In recent years, the project has provided users and companies with the opportunity to use virtual land (Country) and develop several unique metaverse initiatives.
La Liga hopes its Metaverse move will innovate the league and provide fans with the best experiences on and off the pitch.
Stephen Ibbotson, La Liga’s Head of Franchises and Licensing, spoke out about the plans. He said the organization had been looking for ways to innovate itself and surpass competitive championships to ensure the best experience for fans on and off the field.
“With this license agreement, we can reach a new and important audience, such as that of Decentraland.”
Meanwhile, the director of StadioPlus said the company is working to bridge the gap between the sports industry and the future through initiatives such as that of the Metaverses (Decentraland).
