Ecommerce sales in Spain jumped 12.6% in the third quarter of 2024, reaching 24.558 million euros. This is according to the latest ecommerce data from CNMCData.
The top earners were travel agencies and tour operators, with 11.4% of total sales. Air transportation followed with 5.6%, and clothing came in third with 5.3%.
The number of transactions also rose – 14.9% more than the same quarter last year, with over 442 million transactions. Land transportation led the way with 7.5%.
Nearly Half of Sales Were Within Spain
In terms of geographic breakdown, 42.8% of sales were within Spain. The remaining 57.2% were purchases made from Spain to other countries.
Spain’s trade deficit was 10.7 billion euros. For transactions, 35% were within Spain, while 65% were international.
Business from Spain to other countries grew 16.2% to 14.047 million euros. Most of these sales – 94.7% – were to European Union countries. Travel agencies led the way with 10% of sales.
International sales to Spain rose 8% to 3.347 million euros. The EU accounted for 59.5% of these sales.
Tourism-related activities – including travel agencies, air transportation, and hotels – made up 61.9% of international sales to Spain.
Domestic ecommerce sales in Spain increased 8.3% to 7.164 million euros. The public administration led the way with 8.8% of sales.
