Spanish Police Arrest Fugitive Drug Trafficker’s Wife at Madrid Airport
The Spanish Police have arrested Gianina Garcia Troche, the wife of notorious drug trafficker Sebastian Marset, at Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport in Madrid. The arrest was made on Wednesday at 8 a.m. local time.
International Manhunt
García Troche was traveling from Dubai to Madrid with Uruguayan documentation when she was apprehended by local police. She is wanted by Paraguayan authorities for her alleged involvement in a drug trafficking and money laundering network.
Paraguayan Warrant
García Troche, like her husband, was subject to an international arrest warrant. The Paraguayan justice system has requested a maximum prison sentence of 22 years and six months for her alleged crimes.
Interpol Cooperation
Interpol Uruguay collaborated with Interpol Spain to confirm García Troche’s identity and verify her travel plans. Interpol Uruguay director Danilo Alzamendi stated that the Uruguayan police had worked closely with the Spanish authorities throughout the investigation, exchanging over 20 reports and 300 communications.
Defense Response
García Troche’s lawyer, Santiago Moratorio, claimed that she turned herself in because she was "tired of running for a crime she did not commit."
