Spaniard Esteban Carril will coach Andy Murray

Spaniard Esteban Carril will join Andy Murray’s team temporarily during the ATP 250 in Stockholm having recently worked with Emma Raducanu.

Carril, who was the coach who accompanied Johanna Konta to the top 10 and with whom he won the Miami tournament, was working in the British tennis federation until the end of 2020 and since then he has accompanied some British tennis players on the circuit.

Among them he recently worked in the Cluj tournament with Raducanu, champion of the United States Open and that he is looking for a permanent coach after breaking ties with Andrew Richardson, the coach who accompanied him in New York.

Murray, whose head coach has been Jamie Delgado for five years, will temporarily add Carril, with the possibility of him joining the British team permanently.

After several hip operations and the implantation of a prosthesis, Murray is now number 143 in the world and recently, in addition to reaching the third round at Indian Wells, he beat top 10 Hubert Hurkacz in Vienna, before losing to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. His last tournament was the 1,000 Masters in Paris, where he lost in the first round.
