Spain Rally Championship Delayed Due to Murcia Floods and Inclement Weather

The highly anticipated start of the Spanish Super Championship of Rallies has been pushed back by two weeks. Heavy rainfall has been battering the Murcia region, causing severe flooding that has already claimed one life, prompting the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation (RFEDA) and the Lorca Automobile Club to jointly agree to postpone the season’s opening event. This decision comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of both participants and spectators.

The New Schedule

The 14th edition of the Rally Tierras Altas de Lorca is now slated to take place on March 21 and 22, a mere two weeks ahead of the first asphalt event on the calendar, the Rally Sierra Morena, which is also part of the European rally circuit. This adjusted timeline will undoubtedly affect the teams’ and drivers’ preparation and strategy, as they fine-tune their vehicles and tactics for the demanding rally routes. As the competition heats up, fans can expect an exhilarating display of skill, speed, and endurance. With the rallying community eagerly awaiting the season’s kick-off, the Rally Tierras Altas de Lorca promises to be an unforgettable experience, set against the stunning backdrop of the Spanish countryside.
