Great news for the Spanish team in the 30-meter Fronton World Cup that is being held these days in Valencia. The two Finals that will be played by the Spanish National Team will be in Paleta Goma. In the men’s category Spain will face Argentina and in the feminine category Spain will face Mexico. On Thursday morning, Spain secured second place in group A in Frontenis Men and with it the qualification for the semifinals.
The afternoon started with the two semifinals of Paleta Goma Masculina. In the first Argentina beat Mexico in a match in which “Puli” Villegas was more successful than Daniel Rodríguez “Tachi” demonstrating a great physical form that allowed him to reach the Mexican’s attacks and counter them with definitive points. In the second, Spain, with Gustavo Vidal “Guti” as the starter, did the same against France, the current runner-up, demonstrating the high level of the national team in this physically demanding specialty. The first game was more even with a result of 15-12, while the second finished with 15-9.
In the Women’s Rubber Paddle, Spain faced France, where the Spanish player Lidia Simón easily defeated the French player 15-8 and 15-4. In the previous game Mexico had beaten Argentina. The Final will be played on Friday.
During this Friday morning the semifinals in Women’s Frontenis will face Mexico against France and Spain against Cuba and in Men’s frontennis against Spain against the United States and Mexico against France.
