The best parkour athletes on the planet will gather in Tokyo for the inaugural FIG World Championships from October 14-16. During three days of competition the Ariake Urban Sports Park will host 100 athletes of 36 nationalities different.
Spain will have the participation of Aaron Vivar in the freestyle modality and Stefy Navarro and Alberto Gómez who will compete in the speed and freestyle modality. The competition will start on Friday with the speed classification in the men’s category and the freestyle classification in the women’s category. The semi-finals and finals will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October.
In speed mode, The objective is to cross as quickly as possible an 80-meter course that contains a variety of obstacles, boxes, bars and ramps.. In the mode of freestyle, athletes have a maximum of 70 seconds to impress the judges and show off their skills on the course. The layout of the course is unique and will not be revealed to athletes until 36 hours before the start of the eventthis competition format requires creativity and innovation from the competitors.
