Spain: Pakistani couple arrested for killing daughter in the name of honor

A Pakistani couple has been arrested in Spain for honor killing their daughter.

Police in Spain say a Pakistani couple has been arrested for allegedly killing their daughter in Pakistan for an arranged marriage.

According to the French news agency AFP, the National Police of Spain said in a statement released on Friday that the Pakistani authorities had issued an international warrant for the arrest of the husband and wife accused of the daughter’s murder.

According to the report, a girl was killed in Pakistan in April 2020 for marrying according to choice, whose husband reported it to the police.

Investigators believe the couple killed their daughter after abducting them in Pakistan because they did not like the daughter’s husband, who was married of her own free will, the statement said.

The police spokesman of Spain also says that the parents of the alleged killers of the murdered girl fled to Spain from Pakistan, after which a warrant was issued for their arrest.

The alleged killer couple, a 67-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, were arrested near their home in Logrono, Spain, where they ran a phone and internet service shop.

According to the report, the husband and wife accused of honor killing were produced in court, which ordered that they be kept in jail until they are deported to Pakistan.

According to the Spanish Institute of National Statistics, there are about 100,000 Pakistanis living in Spain.
