Spain becomes third largest country in terms of number of crypto ATMs

Spain has made great strides in terms of installing cryptocurrency ATMs. It has since grown to become the third largest crypto ATM network. Only the United States (US) and Canada currently have more in their country.

El Salvador has passed

Currently, according to CoinATMRadar data, there are 259 cryptocurrency-related ATMs in Spain. This knocked El Salvador from third place, which currently has 212 installed. Due to the growth, about 0.6% of all crypto ATMs worldwide are now located in Spain.

When only looking at Europe, Spain has approximately 14.65% of all crypto ATMs installed. After Spain, Switzerland follows with 144 ATMs, Poland with 142 ATMs and Romania with 135 crypto ATMs.

Greece on the rise

The country also plans to install even more cryptocurrency ATMs this year, leaving around 300 such machines in the country by the end of the year. Most of these machines are in Barcelona (59 units), followed by Madrid (40 units) and Malaga (13 units).

Earlier this year, the number of new crypto ATM installations showed negative growth. This happened in September of this year, but since then a recovery seems to have started.

Greece also seems to be becoming a popular country for crypto ATMs. Currently, the country ranks 6th worldwide in terms of number of crypto ATMs. According to BCash director Dimitrios Tsangalidis, the island of Crete is attracting a “very loyal cryptocurrency crowd.” In closing, he said the following:

There is a strong crypto community in Heraklion in Crete which is the location of one of our ATMs.
