Rodrigo Zalazar has started the season with a fiery passion, and there’s a good reason why. It seems a direct challenge from Sp. Braga president António Salvador sparked this amazing run. After Braga’s convincing 4-0 win over Lincoln in the first leg of their Europa League playoff, the Uruguayan midfielder spoke about his scoring touch. He scored two goals and even set up another during the match.
“The president told me I needed to score 12 goals,” Zalazar shared with Sport TV. “I’m going to try my best. With help from my teammates and keeping up my goal-scoring efforts, my aim is to help the team win more games. Those are my targets.”
MVP Award
Zalazar was happy with the team’s big win. “I’m very pleased with the victory, and with my two goals as well,” he said. “I want to thank everyone who came out to support us. But the job isn’t done yet. We want to be even more relaxed for the next leg of the tie.”
Looking Ahead to the Second Leg
The team has a strong lead, but Zalazar knows they can’t stop. “We still have to play the game,” he stated. “But we know we earned a great advantage today. We took our chances well. It was a good match for us.” He added, “We knew it would be tough, but we had to stick to our plan. We started the game strong, and now we need to focus on Sunday. It’s all about moving forward.”
Working with Coach Carlos Vicens
The club’s new coach, Carlos Vicens, seems to be making a real impact. “Working with him has been a very good experience,” Zalazar explained. “There are new things, lots of fresh ideas. But honestly, he and his ideas give us a lot of belief. We feel great, we are happy, and we are making progress. We just need to keep this going.”
Big Ambitions for Sp. Braga
Does this mean Sp. Braga is planning to win everything this season? “Those are our goals, of course,” Zalazar admitted. “But we focus on each game one by one. We stick together, and we try to do the very best for Sp. Braga.”
