South American qualifiers: Argentina equals 0-0 against Venezuela

The Argentine team visits Venezuela at the Olympic Stadium in Caracas for the South American Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Almost two months after the historic achievement of the Copa América in Brazil, the team led by Lionel Scaloni faces the first of their triple date commitments of the qualifying tournament.

The Selection took about ten minutes before reaching the rival area in danger and was close with a Messi shot and another, on the rebound, from De Paul, who crashed in the middle of the crossbar. Within a minute, the one who missed it was Di María, hand in hand in front of goalkeeper Wuilker Fariñez who found the ball with a slap.

After a tremendous lack of the admitted Martínez on Messi, Lautaro Martínez followed the play and took a shot just deflected. The referee stopped the game to admonish the Venezuelan, but then on the recommendation of the VAR, controlled by the Chilean referee Cristian Garay, he canceled the yellow and showed him the red. The departure of Martínez, who had entered for the injured Velázquez, forced the DT to take out a striker, Ramírez.
