South Africa Wins ICC Trophy, Legends Praise Victory

South Africa stunned Australia in the World Test Championship final, ending a 27-year wait for an ICC trophy. The cricket world erupted in joy as the Proteas claimed the title. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar hailed their win as “turning hope into history.”

Players like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Dale Steyn praised the South African team’s spirit. De Villiers took to social media, saying, “What a win and what a game! Kudos to Aiden Markram for his match-winning century and Temba Bavuma for his brilliant leadership throughout the match.”

Tendulkar lauded Markram and Bavuma’s partnership, calling it “history in the making.” He added, “Test cricket’s magic continues. South Africa showed remarkable skill under pressure, and Markram’s century will be remembered for ages.”

The duo’s 147-run stand on the third and fourth days of the match left Australia’s attack stunned. Former fast bowler Dale Steyn summed up the mood in one word: “Home” – referring to the championship trophy returning to South Africa.

Former players like Herschelle Gibbs and Madan Lal congratulated the team on their victory. Gibbs said, “Well done, South Africa! Everything fell into place from the toss.” Lal praised Markram’s century, saying, “This is a career-defining innings for him, and he must be thrilled to have helped South Africa win their first World Trophy.”

Keshav Maharaj, the left-arm spinner, got emotional in a post-match interview with former captain Graeme Smith. “This is special, lifting the cup for everyone back home and here. I’m speechless,” he said, struggling to hold back tears.

Maharaj added, “This is about the country, the unity we’ve shown over the past five days. We’re grateful to have such amazing support.” The win marked a historic moment for South African cricket, and the team’s victory was celebrated globally.
