South Africa Secures 2-0 Test Series Win Against Pakistan

In a convincing display, South Africa defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the second test, securing a 2-0 win in the series. The hosts achieved the target of 58 runs in the fourth innings without losing a single wicket, showcasing their dominance in the match.

South Africa’s First Innings Performance

South Africa’s impressive first innings score of 615 runs set the tone for the match. Ryan Rickelton’s outstanding performance of 259 runs, along with centuries from captain Temba Bavuma (106 runs) and Kyle Verrein (100), were the highlights of the innings. In response, Pakistan’s first innings was limited to just 194 runs, forcing them to follow on.

Pakistan’s Second Innings Effort

Pakistan’s second innings saw a significant partnership of 205 runs between Shan Masood and Babar Azam. Babar Azam scored 81 runs, while Shan Masood contributed 145 runs. However, the team’s overall performance was hindered by the injury of Sam Ayyub, who was unable to bat in the second test. Apart from Babar Azam and Shan Masood, no other batsman was able to reach the 50-run mark, with Mohammad Rizwan scoring 41 runs and Salman Agha scoring 48 runs.

South Africa’s Path to the WTC Final

Having already secured a spot in the final by winning the first test, South Africa’s victory in the second test has further solidified their position in the points table. They will face Australia in the final in June this year, marking a significant milestone in their cricketing journey.
