The Champions Trophy 2025 is approaching, and participating teams are engaging in One-Day International (ODI) series to prepare, except for Bangladesh and Afghanistan. England will play a 3-match ODI series against India, while Pakistan will participate in a tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand at home. Pakistan and New Zealand have announced their teams for the series, and now South Africa has revealed a 12-member squad for their first match, featuring 6 uncapped players.
Gerald Coetzee returns to the squad
South Africa will play their first match in the tri-series against New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 10. Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has returned to the 12-member squad after being unavailable due to injury for an extended period. Six uncapped players have also been included in the team, as key players from the Champions Trophy squad are currently participating in the SA20 and will join the team after the first match of the tri-series. These players are Ethan Bosch, Mihalali Mapongwana, Gidon Peters, Micah-IL Prince, Matthew Breetzke, and Senuran Muthusamy.

In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, South Africa is in Group B and will play their first match against Afghanistan at the National Stadium in Karachi on February 21. The team will then face Australia and England on February 25 and March 1, respectively. South Africa had previously announced their team for the tournament.
