Damar Hamlin visited his teammates at the Bills facility on Saturday for the first time since he was released from a hospital in Buffalo, nearly two weeks after the safety went into cardiac arrest and required resuscitation on the field. of the game against Cincinnati.

Bills linebacker Matt Milano posted a photo on his Instagram account of a smiling Hamlin shaking hands with another person.

A person familiar with Hamlin’s schedule confirmed to The Associated Press that the player visited the team. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Hamlin keeps the schedule and recovery private from him.

Hamlin was allowed to go home Wednesday after final exams were performed at Buffalo General Medical Center.

His visit came a day before the Bills (13-3) host their division rival Miami Dolphins (9-8) in the wild-card game, raising the chance he’ll be healthy enough to attend the game.

Hamlin, 24, continues what doctors have called “an extraordinary recovery” since his heart stopped after he was struck in the chest by Bengals catcher Tee Higgins in the first period of the canceled game in Cincinnati on January 2nd.

Hamlin spent the first two days at the UC Medical Center sedated and on a ventilator. Upon awakening, Hamlin had no signs of neurological damage and after four days he was breathing on his own, talking and walking.

His first interaction with the team occurred on January 6, when Hamlin appeared via video conference from his hospital room. He exchanged a message with his hands, showed his muscles and spoke telling them: “I love you guys.”

The Bills were cautious on Wednesday about when they might see Hamlin in person, saying that would depend on the player regaining his strength.

“Making sure he takes it slowly and obviously gets back to himself,” quarterback Josh Allen said. “Then we will take the time that is necessary. But I hope that he knows that the boys are ready to see him.
