The tragic demise of Soundarya, a talented South Indian actress who made her Bollywood debut with Amitabh Bachchan’s film “Suryavansham,” sent shockwaves throughout the film industry. At just 31 years old, her life was cut short in a plane crash, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be felt. What’s more, her death came just a year after her wedding, and rumors suggest she was pregnant at the time. Now, 22 years after the fatal accident, a complaint has been filed against South actor and film producer Mohan Babu, alleging his involvement in Soundarya’s murder. The news has sparked a fresh wave of interest in the case, with many seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Recently, reports emerged that a complaint had been filed against Mohan Babu in Andhra Pradesh’s Khammam district, accusing him of being involved in Soundarya’s alleged murder. The complainant claimed that Soundarya’s death was not an accident, but a deliberate act, and that Mohan Babu was implicated due to a land dispute. As the news gained traction, Soundarya’s husband, G.S. Raghuraj, finally broke his silence, dismissing the allegations as “baseless rumors.” In an official statement, he clarified that there was no truth to the claims of Mohan Babu being involved in any property dealings with Soundarya or her family.
Raghuraj’s statement, as reported by Telugu360, read, “I want to refute the baseless rumors circulating about the property dealings between Mohan Babu sir and my late wife Soundarya. I confirm that Mohan Babu sir has not acquired any property from my wife in an unlawful manner. To the best of my knowledge, we have never had any land transactions with him.” He went on to emphasize the good relationship between his family and Mohan Babu, stating, “I have known Mohan Babu sir for over 25 years, and we have a cordial friendship. Our families have always maintained a deep bond of trust and respect. I respect Mohan Babu sir and want to share the truth with all of you. We have a good relationship with Mohan Babu sir, and I reiterate that we have no property dealings with him. Since this is a false news report, I request everyone to stop spreading it and put an end to this matter.”
Mohan Babu, who is currently busy with the shooting of his film “Kannappa,” has not commented on the allegations. The controversy has, however, brought back memories of Soundarya’s remarkable career, which was cut short in its prime. Born Sowmya Sathyanarayana on July 18, 1972, in Karnataka, Soundarya began her acting journey in the Kannada film industry with the movie “Ba Nanna Preetisu” in 1992. She went on to work in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema, winning a National Award for her performance.
Soundarya’s personal life was also subject to scrutiny, particularly after her marriage to software engineer G.S. Raghuraj on April 27, 2003. The couple’s happiness was short-lived, as Soundarya’s life was tragically cut short in a plane crash on April 17, 2004, while she was on her way to a campaign event with her brother Amarnath. Reports suggest that Raghuraj has since remarried, and there is an ongoing dispute within the family over Soundarya’s assets. As the debate surrounding her death continues, one thing is certain – Soundarya’s legacy lives on, and her fans continue to cherish the memories of her remarkable talent and captivating on-screen presence.
