Sooraj Pancholi’s voice cracks as he recounts his darkest days. The Bollywood actor spent time in jail in 2013, following the tragic death of actress Jiah Khan. Pancholi was just 21 then, and the experience left an indelible mark on his life. He shares, “I was sent to Arthur Road Jail and put in solitary confinement. My cell was the same one where 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab was kept. The treatment I received was brutal, like I had committed a heinous crime.”
Pancholi’s eyes glaze over as he recalls the harsh conditions. “I had no pillow, and I’d sleep on newspapers. It was only years later that I realized the extent of what I’d endured. At the time, it all felt like a nightmare.” The actor’s voice falters, but he continues, “I’m not exaggerating. The way I was treated was inhumane.”
In a shocking turn of events, Pancholi was finally cleared of all charges by the CBI in 2023. The actor has since spoken out about his traumatic experience, hoping to raise awareness about the harsh realities of the Indian justice system.
