Sony’s LYT-910 Sensor: Near 1-Inch, 200MP for 2026 Flagships

Sony is poised to challenge Samsung in the high-end smartphone camera sensor market with its new 200-megapixel LYT-910 sensor, expected in flagship devices by early 2026.

Samsung has offered 200-megapixel ISOCELL sensors in premium smartphones for several years. Sony’s reported entry signals a direct competitive move into this segment.

The LYT-910 marks Sony’s first 200-megapixel sensor designed for smartphones. Details about the new component were revealed by tipster Fenibook, posting on the social media platform X.

The sensor features a large 1/1.11-inch size. This makes it physically larger than Samsung’s 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HP2, found in devices like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

It also boasts 0.7-micrometer pixels, an upgrade from the 0.6-micrometer pixels of the ISOCELL HP2.

Internally, the LYT-910 incorporates a two-layer Remosaic technology. This includes Quad Bayer Coding (QBC) for generating 50-megapixel images.

It also uses Quad-Quad Bayer Coding (QQBC) to produce full 200-megapixel images. This technology aims for faster image capture and reduced power consumption during processing.

The sensor supports 4K HDR video recording at 120 frames per second. It can also capture 8K video at 30 frames per second.

The LYT-910 can achieve a dynamic range exceeding 100 decibels, equivalent to a 100,000:1 light difference. This enables effective HDR photography across diverse lighting conditions, from indoor neon lights to bright outdoor sunlight.

It also supports 2x lossless zoom and 4x digital zoom. These zoom functions utilize direct pixel cropping from the source image, preserving clarity.

Fenibook stated that multiple flagship smartphones, including models from OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi, are expected to feature the LYT-910 starting in early 2026.

The tipster suggested this introduction could be a pivotal moment. It may re-establish Sony’s significant influence in the premium smartphone camera sector.
