Apparently, Sony is already working on the next Xperia 5 IV model that may be more powerful than ever, thanks to the integration of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor.
The first information about this terminal is already beginning to circulate, which seems to be proof that the brand has left the majority market to embrace the segment of smartphones aimed at photography professionals.
Xperia 5 IV with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+

Sony is known for unveiling its new smartphones several months before actually launching them on the market. And the new Xperia 5 IV can continue that tradition. For now, the first information about the model is beginning to appear, which seems to place it in a segment totally focused on professional photography.
One of the advanced details is that the Sony Xperia 5 IV will already be equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor that uses TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. This idea is even more powerful if we consider that the two companies, Sony and TSMC, are joining forces to build a Japanese factory for the production of PS5 chips.
Other specs we can expect to see in Sony’s next smartphone
Aside from the processor, there were few advanced specifications for the upcoming Xperia smartphone. But the terminal is expected to arrive equipped with a 6.1-inch screen that will have Gotilla Glass Victus protection on both sides.
The same sources of information also provide some details about the optical part of the terminal. For now, they say that the main sensor will be the Sony IMX557 with 12 megapixel resolution. But what makes this sensor so special? It is a 1/1.7″ sensor, which makes it one of the largest on the market.
Additionally, there’s also a telephoto sensor and a latest 12-megapixel sensor with a dual-focal-length lens that can switch between 3x and 4.4x magnification. With all this attention to the optical part, the vocation of this Xperia for the field of photography is quite noticeable.
