Sony continues to be a reference brand when it comes to audio solutions. One of its next releases will be the Sony WF-1000XM5, the new version of its popular wireless headphones with active noise cancellation.
This new model has already passed through the approval authorities, such as the FCC, and this allows us to have an idea of what they will have to offer. It is, in fact, through The Wlakman Blog publication, that the first details of these headphones were released.
The feature layout of the Sony WF-1000XM5 is no different from its predecessors
Thanks to the image published by the aforementioned source, the first thing we see is the design of the Sony WF-1000XM5. These won’t be much different from their predecessors, although the new generation appears to be a bit more compact.
In terms of build quality, the Sony WF-1000XM5 appear to be made of plastic with a glossy finish. An option that just so happens to give a less premium feel to Sony’s new wireless headphones.
The information provided by the source also pays attention to the charging and transport case of the Sony WF-1000XM5. Here we see that Sony has opted for a more rounded design than the previous generation.
Still at this point, the case of the Sony WF-1000XM5 features a new 5V = 230mA battery. This means that the new generation will have a larger battery, although details on this have not yet been announced.
Another change has to do with the LED present in the box of the Sony WF-1000XM5. This time around, Sony has gone for a more conventional approach, with a simple LED “dot” on the front of the case.
The disassembly and internal analysis of the Sony WF-1000XM5 charging case also reveals the presence of a coil for wireless charging in the Qi standard. A feature inherited from the previous generation.
The headphones were also disassembled and this allowed to collect small details about its interior. Still without details about the capacity of its battery, it is observed that it will take up a lot of space inside each earphone.
The contacts for wireless antennas, two contacts for the speakers and the necessary components for the presence of touch controls are also observed. Let’s not forget a proximity sensor and several microphones.
These are the possible details to collect with the information we have. More details about Sony’s upcoming wireless headphones are expected to be announced soon.
