Sony is bringing back a popular feature for PlayStation 5 users. After a successful trial during the 30th anniversary celebration of PlayStation last year, the company is re-releasing PlayStation 1-4 themes for the console’s home screen.
New Features and Customization Options
The update, expected to roll out today, April 24, will allow users to change their console’s appearance and sound to match their favorite classic PlayStation consoles. To access these themes, users will need to update their PS5 software to the latest version and navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘Appearance’.
The new update also introduces an “Audio Focus” feature, which enables users to customize their audio experience. With four presets to choose from, users can boost specific sounds, such as voices or high-pitched noises. For example, the ‘Boost Voices’ preset can help players focus on character dialogue, while ‘Boost High Pitch’ can make footsteps more audible.
Sony expressed delight at the positive response to the classic themes during the trial period and is happy to bring them back permanently. The company values user feedback and is committed to providing a personalized experience for PS5 users.
