Comparisons with ‘Animal’ and the Challenges of Filming ‘Fateh’
Sonu Sood’s directorial debut, ‘Fateh’, is set to hit theaters soon, and the trailer has already generated significant buzz. The action-packed sequences have drawn comparisons to Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Animal’, with some scenes bearing a striking resemblance. Sonu recently addressed these comparisons in a conversation with Aaj Tak.
Addressing the Similarities with ‘Animal’
Sonu praised Ranbir’s film, acknowledging the impressive action sequences. However, he explained that the similarities between the two films were largely due to circumstance. With a limited number of fighters available, Sonu’s team had to get creative with their casting choices.
Initially, the team had called in around 70-80 fighters for three big action sequences. However, after using them all up in the first sequence, they were left with a shortage of fighters for the remaining scenes. To address this issue, they decided to reuse the same fighters, this time wearing masks.
The Challenges of Filming ‘Fateh’
Sonu revealed that it was not easy to change fighters, especially considering the financial constraints. The team had brought in fighters from Mexico and South Africa, and replacing them would have been a significant expense. As a result, they had to make do with the resources they had available.
Regarding the graphic violence depicted in the trailer, Sonu noted that audience preferences are changing. Today’s viewers are drawn to more intense action scenes, but they also expect a certain level of style and technical expertise. The team behind ‘Fateh’ aimed to deliver this, while also bringing a unique perspective to the action genre.
Upcoming Release and Competition
‘Fateh’ is set to release on January 10, where it will face competition from South Superstar Ramcharan’s film ‘Game Changer’. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Naseeruddin Shah, in addition to Sonu Sood.
