Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam recently performed at the Delhi Technical University’s fest, but some reports suggested that the evening took a chaotic turn. It was claimed that the audience threw stones and bottles at the singer, forcing him to stop his performance mid-way. However, Sonu Nigam has now come forward to clarify the incident.
In an Instagram post, Sonu Nigam shared a photo of himself wearing a pink headband that was thrown at him during the performance. He explained that only a vape was thrown at the stage, which hit his crew member’s chest. The singer had to pause his performance to appeal to the audience to maintain calm and decorum.
Sonu Nigam mentioned that after the vape incident, he stopped the show and addressed the students, warning them that if such behavior continued, he would have to abandon the performance altogether. He also shared that the only other thing that was thrown at the stage after that was a headband, which was actually a “pooky band” – a harmless, fun item.
Earlier, reports had emerged that the audience had gotten out of control during Sonu Nigam’s performance, throwing stones and bottles at the stage. The singer had allegedly stopped his performance and asked the audience to calm down, saying, “I’ve come here for you, to have a good time together. I’m not asking you to stop enjoying, but please don’t do this.”
It seems that the actual events of the evening were not as dramatic as initially reported. Sonu Nigam’s Instagram post has put the rumors to rest, and the singer has expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the audience, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful and respectful atmosphere during live performances.
