Sonos Beam Gen 2 soundbar with Dolby Atmos support

Sonos just announced the new version of its compact TV soundbar that now supports Dolby Atmos. Beam Gen 2 will be available from October 5 at an approximate price of 380 euros (or 449 dollars).

With a design very similar to its predecessor, the new Beam replaces the fabric grille with polycarbonate. All for a sleeker look, longer life, and easier cleaning. The dimensions remain the same: 650 x 99 x 68mm.

But the big transformation took place inside this compact bar that now has a total of five sets of speakers. All thanks to the integration of a faster processor.

Another of the novelties already mentioned here is the support for Dolby Atmos, which puts the user in the center of the sound action, whether listening to a more ramshackle song or watching a movie with more action. The new more powerful processor also allows the Beam bar to guide the sound through the space for a more immersive experience.

Also with eARC compatibility, Beam Gen 2 includes NFC technology for easier setup and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant functionality. It also has Wi-Fi, Ethernet connectivity and is AirPlay 2 compatible.

At the Beam Gen 2 presentation, Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos, said about the new soundbar that “we have put together everything we have learned over the years about exceptional sound and home theater, we have discovered a way to bringing new features and significantly better sound to the Beam, all in the same compact size that has proven extremely popular with customers. “
