Snow White Movie Review Released After Decade Long Wait

It’s been nearly nine decades since the animated film ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ first hit theaters in 1937. Plans for an official remake had been in the works for about a decade, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays, and the film finally wrapped up last year. However, before its release, the movie found itself at the center of several controversies, including allegations of tampering with the original story. Despite the setbacks, the film has finally arrived in theaters as of March 21, 2025.

Snow White’s Story

You’re probably familiar with the tale of Snow White and the seven dwarfs, but this film tells the story of a princess. Born on a stormy night, Snow White’s (Rachel Zegler) life takes a dramatic turn after her mother’s death and her father’s remarriage to the beautiful but evil Queen Grimhilde (Gal Gadot). The Queen, who’s actually a sorceress, manipulates the King and takes over the throne. Snow White’s life is reduced to that of a servant, but she continues to prioritize the well-being of the people, following in her father’s footsteps.

As Snow White grows into a stunning young woman, the Queen’s magical mirror declares her more beautiful than the Queen herself. Enraged, the Queen orders Snow White to be killed in the forest. Will Snow White outsmart the evil Queen and reclaim her rightful place as the ruler? You’ll have to head to the theaters to find out.

Movie Review

Director Marc Webb took on the task of bringing the beloved tale to the big screen, and he succeeds to a large extent. The film hooks you from the start, with a narrative that unfolds at a steady pace. You wait for a climax, but the film wraps up quickly. While it’s an entertaining story with much to offer, the lack of a defining moment is a weakness.

The cinematography and visual effects are impressive, making the world of Snow White a visual treat. Rachel Zegler shines as Snow White, bringing a charming innocence to the role. Gal Gadot is convincing as the evil Queen, although a bit more ruthlessness would have made the character more impactful. The music complements the story, and the supporting cast delivers solid performances.

If you’re planning a family outing after the kids’ exams, ‘Snow White’ is a great choice.
