SNCF: you can now use holiday vouchers on the site

Booking your train ticket online with holiday vouchers is now possible. The site and the SNCF Connect application now accept online payments by holiday vouchers, a simplification which is however not automatic, because the vouchers will have to be converted into a dematerialized version, the SNCF announced on Thursday.

One in five train tickets is paid for in holiday vouchers each year between June and August, but until now you had to go to the station to be able to use them. “The integration of this means of payment makes life easier for travelers by giving them more flexibility and freedom thanks to the possibility of doing everything remotely to pay for all or part of their tickets”, noted SNCF. Travelers and the National Agency for Holiday Checks (ANCV) in a joint press release.

A dematerialized version of holiday vouchers

“Offering the Chèque-Vacances Connect among our means of payment was eagerly awaited”, underlined Anne Pruvot, general manager of SNCF Connect & Tech (the subsidiary dealing with online sales), quoted in the press release. “This will make it easier for as many people as possible to go on vacation and we are delighted, because it is our public service mission”, added Christophe Boniface, commercial director of the ANCV.

To pay for your ticket online with holiday vouchers, you must use a dematerialized version called “Chèque-Vacances Connect”. The procedure for converting classic titles is explained on the dedicated ANCV website.

Train tickets paid for with holiday vouchers can now be exchanged for digital vouchers on SNCF Connect. Exchanges will be possible from June on self-service terminals and only in 2023 at the counter, according to the press release.
