Snapdragon 898 has already proven its power! Get ready for this Qualcomm SoC

As we approach the end of the year, the focus is increasingly on the next generation of US-based Qualcomm processors. In fact, we are already waiting for the next high-end chip, the Snapdragon 898 (SM8450).

This will be the “engine” of the next generation of high-end smartphones that will arrive in 2022 (and some in 2021). However, we already knew that this new chip would be made using Samsung’s 4nm process / lithography, and now we have new details.

The first benchmark test for the Snapdragon 898 processor

Snapdragon 898 Qualcomm

First of all, thanks to its new 4 nm lithography we have a performance increase of 20% over the current generation: the Snapdragon 888 and the Snapdragon 888+ (Plus), both at 5 nm. Now the first points of reference We come to corroborate this thesis.

Above we can see what is possibly the first recorded result of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 processor in a Geekbench test. It may be a prototype in the testing phase, but it already reveals the potential it contains.

Interestingly, the smartphone used as the test platform for this chip was a new model of the Chinese Vivo. More specifically, the Vivo V2102A is still in development and, considering its characteristics, it will be a flagship.

Qualcomm’s next high-end SoC

With a score of 720 points in the test simple core or a single core and 1919 points in the segment multicore, the Snapdragon 898 is a step above all the competition. Currently, in fact, there is no SoC that can be compared to it in 2021.

Taking into account the scores obtained by the other existing processors on the Geekbench platform, the supposed Snapdraogn 898 is quite superior.

When listing the scores on this platform, we also see the reference to architecture double Part 3400. Even the graphics of the Adreno 730 GPU are mentioned.

The new Snapdragon 898 arrives in December at Qualcomm Summit

Also, the Snapdragon 898 will have an 8-core configuration, hence a SoC eight cores with the main frequency at 1.78 Ghz. However, according to the conviction of the filter Digital Chat Station, this value will increase once mass production of this generation of processors for mobile devices begins.

In short, the new processor will be considerably more powerful with gains of the order of 20%. At the same time, the energy consumption will be considerably lower, as a result of higher compaction with 4nm lithography.

Finally, we have to wait now for the Qualcomm Summit, the annual technology conference, to be held in December. Then, if all goes according to plan, we will officially meet the new Snapdragon 898 processor.
