Following tradition, the American Qualcomm is preparing to launch a new top processor for the second half of 2022. This chip will be known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, an improved version of the processor presented in December.
For now, there is still no official information on the date of presentation of the new processor. However, various sources linked to the segment tell us what we should expect from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus promises improvements in essential aspects
Well-known leaker Yogesh Brar recently revealed his predictions for Qualcomm’s new processor. According to their data, promising improvements are expected.
From his performance, Brar says this will be 10% more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. As the new chip is an incremental update, we can consider these numbers to be quite acceptable.
Second, the points of origin cooling system upgrades of the new processor. The belief is that Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus will not overheat and this will allow it to maintain its peak performance longer than its predecessor.
Just as important will be the energy management of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, which will also be improved. According to the first preliminary tests, this chip offers greater autonomy than its predecessor.
In short, Qualcomm’s next processor will feature improvements to all three main pillars of any processor. It will be more powerful, more efficient and won’t get as hot.
These improvements will be the result of TSMC’s new production process based on 4nm lithography. Although it is the same lithograph of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the difference is in the manufacturing that, in the case of the latter, is delivered to Samsung.
Therefore, a change of manufacturer should be enough for Qualcomm to present a more optimized processor. Who wins with this change is the final consumer.
Finally, it only remains to inform you that Yogesh Brar expects the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus to launch in June. Since it contradicts the initial rumors that pointed to a presentation in May.
