Until recently, listening to music offline on Spotify from a smartwatch was a perk only available to those with a Samsung smartwatch. In May, Apple Watch users also had this possibility, and now it is the turn of Wear OS.
Building on the launch of the new Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic with Wear OS, Spotify was quick to announce the good news. The music streaming service brings the most anticipated news to Wear OS.
“In the coming weeks, Spotify users will be able to play their favorite playlists, albums, and podcasts with their Wear OS-powered smartwatches. With Spotify on your wrist, you have more freedom to run, dance, shop, cook and socialize, and control your music and podcasts at the same time, ”the official statement reads.
Smartwatch with Wear OS can download songs on Spotify
More importantly: “In addition, we are pleased to reveal one of the most requested features by our users: the possibility of downloading all your favorite music and podcasts to your smartwatch”, they conclude.
With this new feature, Spotify Premium users can download their albums, playlists, and podcasts for offline listening on the smartwatch wherever they want. Non-paying Spotify users can listen to Shuffle over Wi-Fi or a mobile network and download their favorite podcasts on the watch.
Thanks to Spotify Connect, you can also control Spotify on other devices connected to the same network. You can then download or update your app on the Wear OS smartwatch, as the news reaches everyone “in the next few weeks.”
To access the functionality, your smartwatch must be on Wear OS 2.0 or higher.
