The Leeds United, led by Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, suffered this Saturday a hard slap on his Premier League debut 2021/22 after being thrashed by 5-1 against Manchester United away at Old Trafford Stadium.
The Red Devils dominated the game to their liking, mainly in the second half, from the offensive efficiency of the Portuguese Bruno Fernándes -author of a triplet- and the leadership of the Frenchman Paul Pogba, with four assists. Greenwood and Fred completed the United account.
For those from Bielsa, winger Luke Ayling had temporarily tied with a goal at the start of the complement, although at no time could he stand up and order himself on the court. Last season, on the same stage, Leeds had fallen 6-2.
Later, the first date will be completed with the matches: Burnley-Brighton; Chelsea-Crystal Palace; Everton-Southampton; Leicester City-Wolverhampton and Watford-Aston Villa (all at 11 a.m. Argentine time); and Norwich City-Liverpool (at 1.30pm).
Meanwhile, on Sunday from 10 am Newcastle United-West Ham United will face each other and at 1.30 pm Tottenham Hotspur-Manchester City will close the opening day.
English football began its season with an audience on the fields, under sanitary regulations. The Old Trafford stadium was full this Saturday and in the run-up to Manchester United’s game with Leeds there were clashes between the fans of both teams.
