The Inter-American Press Association (SIP) informed media professionals from North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain that it has extended the closure of its 2023 Excellence in Journalism contest for one week.
The new deadline for receiving applications will expire on Friday, July 7 at midnight.
Only those journalistic pieces actually published between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 in print media, whether they are newspapers, weeklies or magazines, digital native media and online publications of radio stations and television will be considered as contestants.
A jury made up of members of the IAPA Awards Commission will choose the winner in each of the categories.
The first prize in each of them is rewarded with U$S 2,000 (two thousand US dollars).
The award ceremony will be held in Mexico City in November 2023, during the 79th IAPA General Assembly.
As every year, the IAPA will award the Grand Prize for Press Freedom to a person or organization with significant achievements in favor of this cause.
The SIP thanks CNN en Español for the general sponsorship of this contest.
