Sinking of the Bugaled Breizh: finally the truth for the victims?

It was January 15, 2004, off the English coast, five French sailors had lost their lives. The families of these sailors have been waiting for more than 17 years to understand what really happened. A new trial is scheduled.

A new trial will take place to bring out the truth about the sinking of the Bugaled Breizh, which claimed the lives of five French sailors. An expected truth by the families of the victims for almost 18 years. On January 15, 2004, the Bugaled Breizh flows in the English Channel, off the British coast. Two hypotheses continue to be put forward: cshe of an unfortunate accident, and that of a collision with a boat during a military exercise.

According to the lawyer for the families of the victims, it is time for the truth to come to light: “Today, it is a real political decision to make public the elements still classified as a defense secret”, he explains. As for one of the victim’s companions, Suzanne Cisse, this case is a state lie: “I think of those who hide the truth from us, they don’t help us to mourn”. This new trial, a symbol of hope for the families of the victims, will be held over the next three weeks. In the event of new elements, a new procedure may be launched in France.
