The talk of Simon Banza’s next big move has hit a wall. Sp. Braga and Al Jazira, a team from the United Arab Emirates, had struck a deal for the forward. But the Franco-Congolese player didn’t agree to the switch. So, the whole transfer plan for Banza just fell apart, as confirmed by Record newspaper.
Turns out, Banza had a sweet offer waiting for him: a contract promising 2.3 million euros a year. But he pushed for more, aiming for a salary of 3 million euros. On top of that, he wanted a payment for an agent’s fee. These extra demands were too much for Al Jazira, and they simply pulled back from the deal.
Braga’s club management had been ready to pocket a nice sum. They expected 9 million euros right away for 80 percent of the 28-year-old striker’s playing rights. There was even a chance for another 3 million euros if the Emirati club decided to buy the remaining 20 percent later. That big payday is now on hold.
So, Banza is still in Braga, training on his own. He previously chose not to join Carlos Vicens’ squad. Last season, he was on loan to Trabzonspor in Turkey. He really shone there, scoring 22 goals and setting up 6 assists in 37 games. His future remains very much up in the air.
