Silent Hill f Not Banned in Australia Yet, Says Ratings Board

Silent Hill f, a highly anticipated game, was rumored to be banned in Australia. This wouldn’t be a surprise, given the country’s history of banning games like South Park: The Stick of Truth and Wasteland 3. To get around these bans, game developers often have to make changes to their games.

But it turns out that Silent Hill f isn’t banned in Australia – at least, not yet. A spokesperson for the game ratings committee clarified that the game hasn’t been classified or banned. The confusion was caused by an error on the committee’s website, which has since been fixed.

The game’s fate is still uncertain, though. Since it’s still in development, it hasn’t been submitted for review. Once it is, the committee will decide whether or not to ban it.

What’s got Australian gamers worried is that Konami, the game’s developer, has warned that Silent Hill f will feature graphic violence, torture, and drug use, as well as exploitation of underage characters. If the game is as intense as described, it’s likely to be banned in Australia and possibly other countries.
