Sikandar Raza Alleges Racial Abuse in Zimbabwe Cricket Tournament

Sikandar Raza, the captain of Zimbabwe’s T20 International team, has filed a complaint against Blessing Mufuvwa, head coach of the Rainbow Cricket Club. The issue began during a local tournament, the Vigne Cup, where Raza was allegedly subjected to racial abuse.

Raza recounted the incident, saying Mufuvwa yelled at him when he left the field due to a muscle strain. When Raza asked Mufuvwa to speak to him with respect, the coach continued to use abusive language. The most hurtful comment, according to Raza, was when Mufuvwa said, “I can say what I want, I have a Zimbabwean passport, not a Pakistani one like you. This is my land, not Pakistan.”

This incident has sparked an investigation by the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association. Raza, who has played over 250 international matches for Zimbabwe, is seeking severe punishment for Mufuvwa’s actions.

With a career spanning 19 Test matches, 151 One-Day Internationals, and 105 T20 Internationals, Raza has established himself as one of Zimbabwe’s top all-rounders. He has scored over 8,000 runs and taken 213 wickets across all formats.
