Sikandar Director Reveals Salman Khan’s 8 PM Set Arrival, Night Shoots

When a big star like Salman Khan signs a film, the buzz is immediate. Audiences expect a blockbuster, and studios hope for huge returns. This was certainly the case for his film ‘Sikandar’. It had a massive budget, big names, and a ton of promotion. Despite all this, when ‘Sikandar’ hit theaters, it didn’t quite live up to those sky-high hopes. The movie struggled at the box office.

Recently, director AR Murugadoss, who helmed ‘Sikandar’, shared some surprising details about working with the superstar. He spoke openly in an interview with ‘Valaipetchu Voice’, a YouTube channel. His comments give us a peek behind the curtain of a big movie set.

A Director’s View

Murugadoss explained that shooting with Salman Khan wasn’t always simple. He mentioned that Salman typically arrived on set only after 8 PM. This late start often meant that scenes meant for daytime, like kids returning from school, had to be filmed late at night. Imagine trying to capture the bright energy of a school day at 2 AM! By the time Salman got to the set, the energy of the other actors was often already low.

This nighttime schedule presented unique challenges. Murugadoss recalled specific instances where scenes requiring children were shot in the middle of the night. He pointed out that this was very tiring and just wrong for the young actors. Sometimes, the children would even doze off right in the middle of a take. It made capturing those natural, daytime moments incredibly difficult.

The Superstar’s Schedule

The director made it clear that working with a huge star like Salman Khan is truly an honor. However, it also brings many challenges. He noted that everyone, from the technical crew to the co-actors, had to adjust their entire schedules to fit Salman’s timings. Murugadoss also shared that Salman is very professional about his work. Even so, his way of working is quite different from a typical film shooting schedule.

‘Sikandar’ was a big-budget project, costing around 200 crore rupees. Everyone thought it would easily join Salman Khan’s long list of blockbuster hits. But it didn’t quite make the mark. The film earned only about 110.1 crore rupees at the Indian box office. Its worldwide collection was around 185 crore, which was not enough to cover its huge budget. Both critics and viewers had mixed reactions to the movie.

What’s Next for Salman?

Despite ‘Sikandar’ not being a success, Salman Khan’s star power remains strong. He is currently busy filming ‘Battle of Galwan’, a movie directed by Apoorva Lakhia. This project is said to be based on the India-China border conflict. Fans can also look forward to seeing him in the sequel to ‘Kick 2’. There’s also buzz about another film called ‘Ganga Ram’, where he might star alongside Sanjay Dutt. Salman Khan continues to be one of the biggest draws in entertainment, and his fans are eagerly waiting for his next big screen appearance.
