Siege of key city, Ukraine rejects Russian claim

Kyiv: Ukraine has rejected Russia’s claim of a siege of the key eastern city of Lysichansk.

The Ukrainian military has rejected claims that Russian-backed separatists and Russian forces have laid siege to the key eastern city of Lysichansk.

Ruslan Mozichok, spokesman for the Ukrainian National Guard, said fighting was ongoing around the city, but that it was under Ukrainian control.

It should be noted that the Russian media had shown videos in which the militia of Luhansk province was passing on the streets of Lesichansk waving flags and expressing happiness.

Meanwhile, British intelligence says “little progress” is being made in Lysichansk amid continued air and artillery strikes by Russian forces. According to the latest report from the British Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian forces are blocking Russian forces on the southeastern outskirts of the city.
