A new film from Dinesh Vijan, titled ‘Param Sundari,’ is facing big trouble. The movie hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but it’s already sparked a huge argument. The Christian community is very upset. They are threatening major protests. They also say they will take the filmmakers to court.
The problem started right after the trailer for ‘Param Sundari’ came out. The film stars Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor. A romantic scene shown inside a church angered many. Nicholas Almeida, who founded the Watchdog Foundation, spoke about it. His lawyer, Godfrey Primenta, also shared strong views. They told a digital news outlet that this issue will definitely go to court. They made serious accusations against the filmmakers.
A Holy Place, Not a Film Set
Nicholas Almeida explained their feelings. He said this is more than just a movie problem. He feels it is a direct attack on their religious beliefs. Almeida stated clearly that a church is a house of God. It is not a stage for showing inappropriate content. He called it an insult to the church’s sacred nature. He also pointed out a pattern. Filmmakers, he said, often play with religious feelings. This creates arguments. Then, the film gets a lot of free attention. “But this time,” Almeida warned, “we will not stay silent.” He promised street protests if the church scene is not removed. Filmmakers, he added, need to understand that messing with faith can be dangerous.

Taking the Battle to Court
Lawyer Godfrey Primenta detailed the next steps. He said they have tried everything already. They sent written complaints. These went to the CBFC, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the Mumbai Police Commissioner. “But no action has been taken yet,” Primenta said. He added that only one path remains. They will use the law. They plan to file a private complaint in the Magistrate Court. Their goal is to seek criminal action against the producer and director.
Primenta emphasized that this is a serious matter. Using a religious place for a romantic scene is wrong. It hurts religious feelings. He also called it a clear misuse of permission. He suggested that the church might have agreed to general filming. However, it’s likely they didn’t know about the “obscene dialogues and scenes.” He sees this as a direct breach of trust.
Is Controversy a Marketing Trick?
Primenta further claimed that filmmakers are now purposely using controversies. He stated this is not the first time. He believes they do this often. The aim is to make people curious. This then leads to more ticket sales. He called this “commercial exploitation of religious sentiments.” But he stressed that they won’t stand by idly this time. He warned of bigger protests. These could happen on the streets and in courts. He said this will happen if quick action isn’t taken.

‘Param Sundari’ is directed by Tushar Jalota. Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films produced it. The film is set to release in theaters on August 29. Interestingly, its release date has changed twice already. It was first supposed to come out in April. Then, July 25 was set. Now, it will finally arrive on August 29.
