Siddaramaiah or Sivakumar – who is the Congress choosing?

The results of the Karnataka assembly polls were out four days ago. But the Congress has not yet finalized who will be the Chief Minister. The Congress headquarters in Delhi are holding phased meetings at 24 Akbar Road. However, the old party is unable to decide who will be the chief minister.

Rahul Gandhi held a separate meeting with both the chief ministerial contenders Siddaramaiah and DK Sivakumar on Wednesday. The report of Anandabazar newspaper says – Rahul Gandhi spoke face to face with Siddaramaiah at 11:30 on Wednesday. Sat with Shivakumar at 12 noon. It is believed that the Chief Minister can be finalized only after this meeting. The party president Mallikarjun Kharge could not resolve the Karnataka issue despite meeting earlier.

Reports say that most of the MLAs who won in Karnataka have their support towards Siddaramaiah. And among the top leadership of the Congress, Sonia’s special preference is the state president Shivakumar. Shivakumar himself wants to become the chief minister of the state. He never hides his desire.

He said, if the party thinks so, it can give responsibility to me. We are like a united family. I am not here to play the sharing game. Whether they agree or not, I am a responsible person. I won’t backstab and I won’t blackmail about it.

To solve the problem, whether the post of chief minister can be shared between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, there was also a debate at 24 Akbar Road. In that case, Siddaramaiah or Shivakumar will serve as Chief Minister for the first 2 or 3 years. Another person will be the chief minister for the remaining 3 or 2 years.

However, according to ‘India Today’, both Siddaramaiah and Sivakumar disagree on this formula. As a result, it is considered that the discussion on this topic is not happening for now.

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal appeared at Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath on Wednesday morning. There are regular meetings. Besides Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, who are contenders to be the Chief Minister of Karnataka, several important MLAs of the state are also present in the 10 Janpath. Karnataka Congress working president Ishwar Khandre is also reported to have entered the 10 Janpath along with some of the winning MLAs.

In this situation, Congress is looking at Rahul Gandhi’s double meeting from 11:30 am. Concerned circles think that the name of the new chief minister will probably be known by Wednesday afternoon.
