Shubman Gill’s fate changed in 9 minutes, with fans including Wasim Jaffer poking fun at BCCI on social media

When the Indian team for the Asian Cup was about to be announced on the afternoon of August 21, the broadcaster made a big mistake. When Team India chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed the names of 17 players on the team, the name of opening batsman Shubman Gill was included. Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Asian Cup, announced shortly before that Gill had not been given a place in the Indian team.

As soon as the broadcaster announced that Shubman Gill had not been included in the team, the reaction from fans on social media was rapid. However, exactly 9 minutes later, when Agarkar announced the team, Gil’s name was mentioned in it. In such a situation, the station also had to apologize for its mistake.

Head selector Ajit Agarkar provided the information, saying that while Gill is part of the team, Sanju Samson is there as a substitute. Afterwards, alongside former player Wasim Jaffer, many fans berated the broadcaster and BCCI on social media for the mistake regarding Gill.

In the 17-strong Indian team announced for the Asian Cup, Hardik Pandya has been given the responsibility of vice-captain. At the same time, the couple Bumrah and Mohammed Shami will be back on the field. Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel were added to the team as three major spin bowlers.
