The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will honor former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri tomorrow, Tuesday. In addition, a major award will be given to young opener batsman Shubhman Gill who has performed excellently in 2023.
Former Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri will be honored with the BCCI's Lifetime Achievement Award. Opener Shubman Gill is awarded the best cricketer of the year for his outstanding performance last year. Shubman Gill scored five centuries in ODIs in the last 12 months. Furthermore, he became the fastest player to score two thousand runs in One Day International.
“He (Ravi Shastri) has been selected for the Samman (Lifetime Achievement Award) while Shubman Gill will receive the Cricketer of the Year award,” the BCCI official said.

61-year-old Ravi Shastri played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India. After his retirement from cricket, he remained quite famous as a commentator. He then became the director of Team India and then also the coach.
Ravi Shastri has coached Team India twice. He joined the national team as team director from 2014 to 2016 and then took up the role of head coach under Virat Kohli from 2017 to the 2021 T20 World Cup. Under his leadership, India won two consecutive Test series in Australia. With Shastri as coach, India also reached the final of the World Test Championship but lost to New Zealand. Furthermore, India also reached the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup under his guidance.
